Pytanie: How can I learn how to rock climb?

( Wstecz )

Answer #1:

You need to find an experienced climber to take you under their wing. Since you lack experience, gear and a local indoor facility, you will need to find someone that is willing to take you to some rock. In fact, climbing is very much an activity that is better to be taught by someone experienced than reading books or going at it alone. The amount of risk involved in the sport is considerable. Books and manuals can only tell you so much, but very few are written in a way to teach someone how to climb if they dont already know what they are doing.
A couple ideas:
- search the web for local climbing clubs/communities.
- make the trip to that indoor climbing wall 100mi away and see if they have a bulletin board that you can post on or ask the staff & climbers if they know anyone in your area that would be willing to help someone new to learn the sport.

Answer #3:

Top roping is much easier but if you're strong enough you can try a V-0 that's nearby and work your way up. But if you're not very strong you should try top roping somewhere with someone who knows what they're doing. If you try bouldering be sure to have a crash pad and shoes help A LOT and chalk is a huge help too. It's kinda hard at first but once you get it it comes more naturally. Good luck and have fun!
