Pytanie: What's it like to climb Mount Everest?
( Wstecz )
Answer #1:
The standard routes on Mt. Everest are essentially just walk ups at high altitude. They involve walking on moderately steep snow with crampons while attached to a fixed line. They also include crossing some crevasses with ladders. There is essentially no rope work or technical climbing involved (except for the sherpas who put up the fixed ropes). There are technical routes on Everest that have been done by experienced and accomplished mountaineers, but the vast majority of climbers on Everest are just walking uphill at high altitude.Answer #2:
Personally, I have no idea... well, actually I have a good idea, but no personal experience. However, my friend Ben is climbing Mt Everest right NOW... pretty cool.
If you'd like you can check out his blog, he keeps updating it from a laptop and satellite phone every few days. He uploads pictures and descriptions and everything and it is happening right now. You can even ask him questions directly on the blog and I'm sure he could answer some short questions.
Anyway, I hope you check it out and find it fun and informative.
